"Until eight years ago, I had never owned a cat, but I had loved 3 that were not mine. Among them was a young feral calico cat on the coast of NC. Many locals took care of her needs. We named her, “Beach Cat, (B.C.).” When B.C. was about 17, she died and a memorial service was held at the pier where she spent her life and is now buried. People still bring things to decorate her grave including a calico scallop. At her memorial service on a rainy night, Helen Needham (Bryant) showed up along with about 30 others! Recently, when I learned that The CAT MAGNET had been written by Helen Needham (Bryant), I had to have one! I LOVED it! Each of the 21 chapters tells the tale of a different cat that was lucky enough to be rescued by Helen or her friends & contacts. The cat tales are written giving knowledge about cats, love for their existence and happy life. I even learned a few new cat words: “purrfect” & “catmobile”! I also had to buy The Cat Magnet for my eldest granddaughter who lives with 2 adopted cats. Her feedback: “They are the SWEETEST stories.” I also bought a book for my High Point, NC friend who has fed a bunch of feral cats over many years & claimed an abandoned home in the neighborhood for their feeding station. She responded: “What a remarkable, informative, witty book! The author expresses her passion and dedication to Cat Rescue in her detailed accounts of these events with a great touch of humor. You don’t have to be a “cat” person to enjoy it. It was such an easy, interesting read that I finished it in one session."

Each tale is unique, with added inspiration & education. I can very much relate to Helen in many aspects of her rescue of & care for each homeless cat that blesses her life. Loving Homeless Kitties

“Helen Needham has written the most compassionate book about Homeless kitties I have ever read. It is easy to read and heart warming. It describes the sorrow and hurt that many kitties go thru just to stay alive. She gives great advice to cat lovers, that are not familiar with homeless cats, on how to trap, catch, care for, socialize and re-home these kitties with love. Also gives us good ideas on how to re-introduce a cat into a home with mulitple cats. If more humans read this book, they would realize that homeless cats have SOULS just like humans do.”

“I have known the author for a long time and am thrilled that she has finally written a book to share her amazing experiences -- and her experience in cat rescue -- with the rest of the world. Although very enjoyable, this book also informs about the overabundance of neglected and abandoned cats. Each chapter is a vignette of a rescue adventure experienced by the author and her husband, who seems to tolerate with exasperated good humor the determination of his wife to save all the felines in North America. Because the chapters are short, I have fun curling up with a cat at my side and a cup of my favorite hot beverage, reading 1 or 2 cat stories each night. Heartwarming and humorous, a wonderful book.”
